Student Senate Technology Chair
On February 16 2013, Alfred State’s Student Senate hosted the February meeting of the State Assembly of the State University of New York. At this meeting, twenty-eight Student Assembly members were in attendance including its’ executive board, directors, caucus representatives, our representative on the SUNY Board of Trustees, and its’ advisor from SUNY System Administration. They all came from across the state to attend a day-long conference that had topics ranging from the state of SUNY, Rational Budget Allocation, Downstate Medical, Veterans’ Rights, as well as topics affecting SUNY and its’ students every day and tours of both of the SUNY campuses in Alfred, NY.
The Student Assembly acts as a forum between SUNY students, the SUNY Chancellor, and the SUNY Board of Trustees on matters impacting areas of student concerns and is a communication network for campus student government leaders.
Members of our student government welcomed the guests, arranged campus tours of this campus and of the New York State College of Ceramics, and provided an evening dinner for them with the Alfred State President’s Council. The dinner was followed by an evening entertainment show which was put on through collaborative effort between the Student Senate, Alfred Programming Board, and the Alfred State Jesters.
